Acknowledging the Pace of Change

May 20, 2022
Sunday Lesson: Little One’s and Livestock, Acknowledging the Pace of Change
Speaker: Ann McMurray

In leadership circles, there’s a saying, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” The expression didn’t come from the business world…it’s an ancient African proverb.

So much of the Bible’s teachings focus on “others.” It may be the biggest challenge for American Christians. Our culture is very self-oriented; very self-motivated. Every time we read the Bible, however, we enter into a world based on community and the importance of others. We are taught to think of others first. We are called to sacrifice for others like Jesus did for us. We are called into community through Jesus. And on, and on, and on it goes.

This Sunday, we will have the opportunity to hear from the chair of the Strategic Planning Team (SPT) put together by the elders. Ann McMurray will be updating the congregation on the work of this important team but doing so through the teachings of scripture.

The SPT’s charge is to consider the input given by the congregation November 6-7 and return specific action items and/or recommendations to the elders to help us grow Younger, Stronger, More Diverse, and continue a passion for Transformational Change. The challenge before this team of 12 is to think not for themselves or any specific group but to think of the NWChurch as a whole and consider how we can move forward.
