Shining a Light on Mental Health - Oct. 13

Here at NWChurch, the Health Ministry conducted a survey of our church family in 2017. The results showed that mental health is a primary concern for all age groups. In response to this identified need, NWChurch is sponsoring a free event to help promote mental health awareness. Our goal is to raise awareness and help reduce stigma through providing
education and information about local resources to our church and surrounding community in Lynnwood.

Mental Health Awareness Fair
Sunday, October 13, 2019
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Community Life Center
19820 Scriber Lake Road in Lynnwood

According to a National Institute of Mental Health study in 2017, approximately 1 in 5 adults (46.6 million) experiences mental illness in a given year in the U.S. Not only adults, but children and youth are being affected at shocking rates as well. In fact, mental illness affects everyone in one way or another—either directly or indirectly through family, friends or co-workers.
Despite how common it is to know someone dealing with anxiety, depression, or substance use, there is still a significant amount of stigma and misunderstanding about mental illness. Even within the church, a person with mental illness can feel isolated and alone.

Come join us on Sunday, October 13 , 2019 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm for free coffee and freshly baked scones, and learn more about what resources are available to help you or someone you love.

Here are some local agencies who will be here to answer any questions you may have regarding mental health:
  • Lahai Health (formerly Puget Sound Christian Clinic)
  • Meier Christian Clinic
  • Sea Mar Community Health Centers
  • Sound Mental Health
  • Verdant Health Commission
